The Monster Garage TV show works like this: Jesse James and a group of specialists are given a task. The lack of any strategy to the gameplay, a generally poor design, and an endless number of stability problems turn Monster Garage into a real monster, all right. Unfortunately, though, the developers of the Monster Garage couldn't transform the concept into a functional game. It's no surprise that the fun, dynamic show would branch into computer gaming. It's the show where motorcycle guru Jesse James and his team transform a vehicle into a functional machine with a purpose. Those who regularly watch the Discovery Channel will undoubtedly know the name Monster Garage. Consistent in all missions is an open-ended format, designed to encourage competitors to solve problems creatively and meet challenge conditions with style. As in the television show, each challenge is different - players may be building a large fire truck in one mission and a zippy swamp buggy in the next. Based on the contemporary Discovery Channel program, Invictus' 2004 home computer version of Monster Garage presents players with 3,000 (virtual) dollars and a week (of game time), then challenges them to tear down a stock vehicle and build it back up with customized features that meet specific conditions.
